About the Neighbourhood

Phibsborough is located about 2 km north of the old city centre.  It is bordered by Glasnevin to the north, Drumcondra to the east, Grangegorman and Cabra to the west and the King's Inns on Constitution Hill to the south. It has been ranked as one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods by Time Out magazine boasting old school charm and contemporary buzz. The location is ideal, just a few minutes from the city centre, but also close to the perennially walkable Blessington Basin Park, Glasnevin Cemetery and the Botanic Gardens.

Transportation

Phibsborough is served by many Dublin Bus routes passing outbound to the north city suburbs: numbers 4, 9, 38, 38a, 38b, 38d, 46a, 70n, 83, 83a, 88n, 120, 122, 140 and 155. Inbound services serve the city centre. Phibsborough has a stop on the Luas Green line located at the railway cutting between the North Circular Road and the Cabra Road.

Education

There is one primary school in Phibsborough St Peter’s, a Catholic mixed school. Nearby options in Cabra include Broombridge Educate Together, a mixed national school, All girls’ schools are Dominican Convent Girls and Christ the King Girls National School. St. Catherine’s Infant School is mixed, and Christ the King Boys National School offers all boys education.


Secondary school options are St. Declan’s College, St. Pauls CBS and St. Vincent’s offering Catholic boys’ education. Stanhope Street Girls Secondary School and St. Dominic’s College offer girl’s education. For mixed there is Cabra Community College.

Dine & Drink

Residents are spoilt for choice with an abundance of coffee shops, restaurants and pubs right on their doorstep. Neighbourhood café Bang Bang is a one-stop shop for brunch burgers and political tote bags. Sports bar The Back Page serves pizzas named after some of Ireland’s greatest athletes, while Victorian boozer The Hut slings Pints of Guinness by the armful.
